Trusting in the process and letting go when manifesting something can be challenging!
You’ve probably done lots of research, bought the books, read the websites, used various manifestation methods, and can’t stop thinking about what you want to attract!
And then you suddenly find out that you’re not doing it right!
Someone tells you that you’re actually holding the process back by putting so much focus on it. Your fixation with your goals and desires is the very thing getting in the way of the manifestation. If you could have just trusted in the process and let go, you would already have what you want!
How frustrating!
And how contradictory at the same time! Concentrate on what you want and pour all your energy into it… but then don’t even think about it!
How can that possibly work? And how do you do it?
Today we’re going to look at what it means to trust the process and let go so the Universe can do the rest. I’ll also go through several methods you can use, which will make it super easy to free yourself from your obsession with your desires!
Ok, let’s get started.
What does ‘trust the process and let go’ mean?
When you are using the Law of Attraction to manifest your heart’s desire, you will have put all your energies into creating the perfect affirmations, visualization, etc., so that the Universe has a clear guide to follow. Once you have done this, trusting the process and letting go means that you relax, sit back, and stop thinking, worrying, and stressing out about when it’s going to happen and if it will even happen at all!
Letting go means getting on with your life and normal routine. It means that you’re not worrying about any of the above things because you believe in the power of the Universe.
When you have this type of belief and trust in the process and the fact that everything is going to come to you at the right time, any barriers crumble away, and your desires can move towards you much faster than before.
It’s logical when you think about it.
If you’ve ordered something on the internet from abroad and get an email to say that the package has been sent, do you worry about how it’s coming, if it will arrive, etc.? Do you check the letterbox every 5 minutes or keep looking out the window to see if the delivery van is outside? No, you just wait patiently and maybe don’t even think about it again until it arrives.
Well, it’s the same as with your wishes. If you have faith that they’re on the way, you can relax and get on with business as usual. There’s no need to feel anxious and scrutinizing every detail, looking for the tiniest change.
You don’t have to concern yourself with how the Universe is going to align everything to bring what you want to you or when it’s going to happen. All you have to do is know that it will all happen in good time, and you can just feel great about all the magic that’s taking place behind the scenes for you.

Letting go doesn’t mean giving up!
There is a big difference between letting go and giving up. I think it’s really important that we’re clear about that.
I admit that when someone first told me to ‘let go’ of my manifestation desires, I thought they were telling me to give up and move on!
But this wasn’t true and is definitely not what ‘let go’ means in this context.
Follow the manifestation process as you usually would. Decide on your specific goals, use the techniques, and look out for any messages that come from the Universe or your higher self.
You don’t need to change or let go of any of these things.
The letting go part is related to liberating yourself from emotions such as worry, anxiety, frustration, impatience, etc. These feelings will automatically lead to unhelpful thoughts, which will form a negative cycle and build the barrier that we talked about before.
The fundamental part of the Law of Attraction is that ‘like attracts like,’ so if you are constantly living with negative thoughts and feelings, the Universe will send you more situations that reinforce and amplify this negativity.
Needing to be in charge of how and when things happen also has to stop!
If you constantly feel like you have to control the process, this implies you doubt it will work on its own. The Universe receives this as a message that you doubt everything – the power of the Universe, the manifestation process, your own capability of manifesting, etc. This doubt will only lead to more of the same.
Just trust the process and let go!

How to let go
Ok, so now that we’ve looked at what letting go really means and why it’s important to do it when you’re in the process of manifesting something, let’s turn our attention to the practicalities of how to do it.
It sounds really easy when someone tells you to ‘let go,’ but how do we stop those negative thoughts and feelings popping into our minds? How do we ensure that we’re not putting any barriers in the way of the Universe while it’s carrying out our wishes?
I’m going to share my five preferred methods with you that will help you feel freer when you are manifesting and allow you to put all of your trust in the process.
1. Make a Manifestation Box
This is a great idea that was influenced by Abraham Hicks. The manifestation box is a write-and-forget technique that really encourages you to liberate yourself from negative thoughts and emotions.
It is a double-powered technique because it works as both a way to set out your desires to the Universe and also as a way to let go.
It’s a very straightforward process. These are the steps:
- Get a box.
- Write on little pieces of paper the things that you want to manifest.
- Fill the box with these desires.
- Include other things in the box that signifies your wishes and dreams.
- Put the box away somewhere (out of sight) and let the Universe get to work!
The theory is that you have done all the hard work by creating and setting up your box, so when you store it out of sight, you are letting go and handing it over to the Universe.
To lift the positive vibration, you can also include personal things in your box, in addition to things that represent your wish.
Some frequently used items include:
- Items of jewelry
- Money
- Images from magazines
- Gems or crystals
- Photos
- Things that have a sentimental meaning to you
This technique gives you the security that your wishes are being worked upon by the Universe, which frees you from thinking about them and worrying if you need to do more.
2.) Rewire your subconscious
Our subconscious is like a different world. It is not very easy to access, so it seems mystical and secret at times.
The subconscious mind holds everything about you: each thought, emotion, memory, experience, capability, etc. It uses all of this data to create the individual you are as you’re reading this.
Now, don’t misunderstand me: in many ways, this is great! But occasionally, we have some stubborn, deep-seated beliefs that get in the way of our ability to trust that our manifestations are going to come true.
For example, you may have a nagging internal voice that’s been there since childhood because you were told that you’d never make anything of yourself.
Or perhaps you sometimes feel that other people don’t have confidence in things you do.
Or it could be that you know several people who are always moaning about how difficult it is to achieve goals and get what you want.
If any of these seem familiar to you, then your subconscious has been sabotaged!
The issue with this is that doubt is such an innate, natural mindset for you that it’s almost a default setting. It’s much easier to doubt that things will happen and therefore want to control them than it is to let things happen and have trust in the Universe.
But, don’t worry! All is not lost! It’s possible to rewrite your subconscious, eradicating the unhelpful, negative beliefs that are holding you back.
Once these barriers of doubt have gone, there is nothing to stop abundance from flowing in!
You can rewire your subconscious mindset to remove doubt by doing the following things:
- Write, say and repeat positive affirmations that reinforce your new, more positive beliefs.
- Spend more time with people who have faith in you rather than those who doubt you.
- Get rid of anything that makes you doubt yourself.
- Make use of subliminal audios and guided hypnosis to discipline your subconscious mind into having more faith in your ability to manifest.
3.) Meditate
For me, one of the most effective ways to trust in the process and let go is through the process of meditation.
The purpose of meditating is to quieten and liberate yourself from the continuous voice of the ego. When you do this, all negative thoughts and resistance drop away. You are in a deep trance and enter a state where you are open to receiving. In this state, the Universe can connect with you, and you may receive communication from your higher self.
Developing a regular habit of meditating will reinforce this connection, and you will find that you think about things more consciously. You will be less driven by the incessant chatter of the ego and will feel more guidance and direction that comes from your higher self.
You can begin with meditation sessions of between 10 and 20 minutes a day if you are new to meditation.
Follow these steps:
- Locate a quiet area where you will not be interrupted.
- Sit or lie down, making yourself as comfortable as possible.
- Allow your eyes to close and focus on your breathing.
- Think to yourself as you breathe, “Inhale… Exhale… Inhale… Exhale…”
- Don’t worry if other thoughts appear in your mind.
- Just acknowledge them and let them float away.
- Refocus on your breathing.
There are many online resources available that can help you if you find it difficult to meditate. Especially in the beginning, it can be challenging to quieten your thoughts.

4.) Have more fun!
This is a lovely way to free yourself from worrying about your wishes and their manifestation. Just have more fun!
I can appreciate that this might sound a bit strange. I’m suggesting you forget about your desires and focus more on recreation, but bear with me! Let me explain.
This works so well because when you’re enjoying yourself, you give out positive emotions of joy, happiness, delight, etc., and it’s these feelings that you need to emit for the Universe to give you what you want.
I mentioned earlier that the Law of Attraction works on the principle that like attracts like, so you cannot manifest joy into your life if you constantly feel worried, stressed, or anxious.
However, when you’re vibrating with emotions such as excitement, cheerfulness, confidence, euphoria, etc., the Universe will provide you with more opportunities and experiences that will generate these types of feelings.
Positive emotions vibration on a much higher frequency and are like a stronger magnet. So while you may not be focusing on what you want to manifest, your magnet is working much harder than it would if you were spending every waking moment stressing about if your wishes were going to come true.
Don’t underrate how powerful it can be to enjoy yourself and spending time doing things that make you happy!
It can be anything that brings you joy – writing poetry, dancing, playing the piano, painting, running, doing yoga, etc. If you feel good when you do it, then you are lifting your energy levels. In turn, this will make everything seem clearer and more balanced.
Plus, when you’re having so much fun, you won’t have time to concern yourself over what you are manifesting!
5.) Practice Mindfulness
Mindfulness occurs when we are totally aware of what is happening in the present moment.
As humans, we have a lot of internal thoughts going on. This sometimes distracts us, and we can get tangled up in our own thoughts. When this happens, we are either thinking about something that happened in the past or worrying about the future.
When we’re mindful, however, it’s like we press the pause button and focus entirely on the here and now. Nothing else matters but the present second that we are living.
When it comes to the manifestation process, you’re likely to be thinking about the future. You may be considering what will change in your life when you have everything that you want, or perhaps you’re worrying that you’re wishes are going to materialize.
Any of these thoughts can put a barrier in the way of the manifestation process, which will then set it back because it will take longer for you to get what you want.
Instead, center your attention on the present moment. Unless you’re living in the now, you can’t enjoy what is happening to you and around you. It’s only when you experience positive emotions from being mindful that you will remove any barrier, allowing a clear path for your desires.
Initially, it might take a bit of practice to focus on the present moment, but it will become easier over time.
The following are some great ways to become more mindful.
Feel grateful
Feeling grateful is a sign of living in the present.
When you have gratitude for something, it’s because you appreciate it at that moment.
You can feel grateful for anything – a nice meal, a sunny day, a pay rise, a delicious cup of coffee, etc.
In addition to being a fantastic way to live more mindfully, emitting more gratitude is a powerful manifestation method in its own right.
You get what you give out, so the Universe will give you more reasons to be grateful if you frequently feel grateful for what you have in your life.
Take everything in
When we really start to look and pay attention, we can see how miraculous everything truly is.
For example, take a moment to look at the intricate detail on a flower petal.
Watch the amazing way a ladybird suddenly unfolds its wings to fly away.
Listen to the birds singing in the trees and watch the tide ebb and flow on the shore.
Pay more attention to the people who walk past you and glance up to notice the architecture in your neighborhood.
There is beauty in everything – we just need to focus our mind on really seeing what our eyes take in on a daily basis.
Use your senses more
As well as being more mindful of what we see, we can also focus more on our other senses.
Take some time to consider each sense, thinking about what you can see, taste, smell, touch, and hear.
As you go through all of your senses, focus your attention on each of them and be mindful of what information you are receiving. Can you hear noises that you’ve never noticed before? Perhaps you are more aware of how things feel to your touch.
You can also do a body scan to see what sensations you feel in your body. Start with the crown of your head and work your way down, noting if you feel any tension or pain in any parts of your body. This type of body scan is also a great way to prepare for a meditation session. You can tense and release each part of your body to ensure that you are fully relaxed.
Remind yourself
You can give yourself a regular nudge throughout the day to be more mindful. For example, you could set the alarm on your phone or set a countdown timer that prompts you every couple of hours.
Another option is to write the letter M on your hand. Whenever you notice it, it will remind you to be mindful and be more aware of your current situation.
When I do this, it helps me free myself from the thoughts and emotions that I was experiencing, and I just focus all of my attention on the present moment.
To Summarize
It’s quite natural to become stuck in a vicious cycle of stress, worry, desperation, etc., which leads to more stress, worry, and desperation. But you have to always remember one thing: you were born to be able to create your own life!
Have faith in your own creative ability, trust the Universe, and don’t worry yourself about when things are going to happen or what kind of process has to happen for them to come to you.
Make sure you get onto a positive vibrational frequency and stay there. Your wishes are coming to you like a magnet attracts metal.
While you are waiting, get on with your life and enjoy yourself! Doing more of the things that you love will further lift your vibrational energy and make the manifestation process work even faster.
